Chopsticks are an important part of the presentation and preparation of Japanese dishes. There are several types of chopsticks made of different materials, thicknesses and lengths.

For cooking, saibashi are used, which are longer (about 30 centimeters) to protect the hands from the cooking flame. These cooking sticks are made of bamboo and have specially processed tips so that they can grip well.

In most households, they are used for a variety of food preparations, including stirring and mixing.
