*Sanada cord
It is said that the name Sanada-himo has its origins in the fact that Masayuki, the father of the warlord Yukimura Sanada, used the cord as a strong and durable string. The fine cord is traditionally woven by hand with thick cotton yarn, warp and weft thread into a flat and narrow bag shape. Since ancient times, it has been used as a cord to fasten important items (lower cord of a sword, decoration of armour, obi fastener of a kimono or cord of a paulownia box for tea ceremony utensils).
