The wooden pestle (Jap. surikogi) is used in Japanese cuisine in combination with the matching mortar (Jap. suribachi). The contents of the mortar are ground in circular movements and then used to make pastes, powders and sauces, for example.

For cleaning, we recommend using a tawashi brush, which is also available in our online shop.

This size is perfect for the small mortar from our range.

As this is natural wood, each pestle is unique and may vary in size and appearance.
