Nenju Wrist Mala - Sakura
CHF 28.00

These nenju made of sakura wood come from a craftsman in Kyoto whose family has been making Buddhist prayer bands for over 300 years. The meticulous workmanship reflects Japanese aesthetics. Malas are therefore not only a religious symbol, but also a personal accessory that reflects our character. They make a beautiful gift for people who are interested in Buddhism or meditation.

The Nenju is a Buddhist prayer band that originated in India. The Sanskrit term "mala" means "rosary". The mala was passed on from Hindus and Buddhists via Islam to Christianity, where it became popular in the Middle Ages during the Crusades.

Malas are used in meditation to count the number of repetitions of a mantra. The mantra is a sacred formula that is repeated to generate positive vibrations. The mala is held in one hand and a bead is counted with each mantra. This draws attention to the present moment and calms the mind.

In the Japanese tradition, the Nenju is also said to have a magical protective effect.
