For the wind bells, artisans go by the sound and melt special brass, which is mixed once at a high temperature. The mixture is carefully poured into molds and polished one by one with much time and devotion. The wind chime stand is made of Suruga Sensuji bamboo. Skilled craftsmen cut the bamboo into 41 thin and rounded sticks. Then the bamboo sticks are inserted and glued one by one. Thus, the bamboo stand is very delicate but at the same time very strong. The supple and smooth curves of bamboo bring a sense of tranquility to our daily lives, and the color as well as luster of bamboo change with age and become something very familiar. In the summer, people hang furins (jap. wind chimes) under the eaves to feel coolness from the sound. In other seasons, they are used as interior decoration of rooms to feel healing.
