Jizo - Cast iron

Jizo is a representation of the most popular Buddha in Japan. He is the patron saint of travelers on the one hand and the protector of children and motherhood on the other.

People in Japan often make offerings of food to Jizo to gain his favor. They also dress him in woolen hats and scarves so that he does not get cold, and in red bibs so that he does not get dirty.

Jizo is an important figure in Japanese culture and religion. He is a symbol of protection, compassion and hope.
