Tea as a distinction

Saturday, 27 September 2025 I 13.00 - 14.00 or 15.00 - 16.00

In the Japanese tea ceremony, the host tries to serve the best possible bowl of tea. But what is the best possible? Opinions can differ widely here.

In the demonstration on 27 September, we take an entertaining, sociologically sharpened look at the tea ceremony as a stage for distinction. For the warlords of the 16th century, the tea ceremony was a means of marking their social status. Today we find out in what curious ways this was done and whether much has changed.

The trained tea lover Nico Čolić presents, in a partly meditative way, what Japanese hospitality is all about and offers you an insight into a wonderful Japanese tradition.
