Buckwheat Pillow - Makura
CHF 35.00

This pillow, filled with Japanese buckwheat hulls (Sobagara), provides stable neck support. The height is easily adjustable by loosening the side loop to flatten the pillow. For centuries, buckwheat husk pillows have been prized in Japan for their breathability and hygiene. The cushion cover is made of 100% cotton.

The Ichimatsu pattern consists of squares in two different colors arranged alternately. This pattern is also known as Ishidatami, which means a paved surface with flat stones. It was named after the costumes of Kabuki actors from the Edo period and also served as the motif for the emblem of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. Due to its uninterrupted continuation, it symbolizes the wish for "prosperity" and is often considered a prayer pattern.

Care instructions:
To maintain the effectiveness of the buckwheat hulls, it is recommended to empty the cushion once a year and air the hulls. The cotton cover is machine washable. Despite the lack of a zipper, the cover can be removed by opening a visible hand seam. After washing and drying, the cover can simply be sewn back on with a thread and the cushion refilled.
